It's grandpa vs grandson this time. They might have 45 years between them, but they’re essentially the same motorcycle aimed at the same buyer. The real question is - have motorcycles gotten better or worse?

Why does the vintage 360 look so much better than the other thing? And why do I want the 360 so badly, but not the plastic bike at all?

From personal experience anything built from the 1960's to end of the 1980's you can't go wrong. Simpler, easier to fix, more durable and with less "technology" that is more hassle than it's worth at times. From cars, to mowers, to snowblowers, to motorcycles, stereo receivers, can't beat the old stuff most of the time. There are exceptions though..

Now you pay 26000 for a new BMW adventure. Thats waaaaay to much for a motorcycle.Especially because thats what i earn in a year.

In 1985 my friend and went on a long drive, I had a v45 magna, and he had the 360. About several miles coming back home we switched. MY LORD. every muscle in my body was vibrated to death, my hands where numb. I got off and said how did you ride that so long. The Magna was like a soft cloud, that was rude. He said it was that bad if you get used to it. Lol. I still have my magna.

Top notch work in this video - I'm impressed. I'm a grandfather, and have been looking at 70's era bikes lately just for grins. This breakdown was full of information - but also captured the love I feel for the old classics, despite knowing that there are technological advancements that are meaningful. And he didn't say "OK Boomer" one time!

My first bike end of last year was a yamaha xj 600s from 98', it was so perfect, and I actually had to use my brain to operate one. No gear indicator, no fuel gauge. Nothing. Sold it extremely cheap because it had some problems, huge mistake. Got a 2014 duke 390 after that, all plastic, even the fuel tank...Couldnt put my tank bag on it because it wouldnt stick to it. Literally everything was plastic. Sold it after a month of riding.
BirdArvid Acum 6 Zile
And Grampa's bike is SO much better looking! The new bikes are like new cars; everyone looks the same; plasticky and anonymous.. There was a time when you could distinguish a Mercedes from a Mazda, and a Honda from a Beemer; no longer.. I'll have the old one any day, to sit next to my DS in the garage..

Wait a minute... Look at your back's position on the two bikes. The old bike has your knees widespread and you are sitting on your butt with your back curved. The new bike rolls your pelvis into the bike, so your knees are squeezing the tank and your back is straight -- your lower back is relaxed. I loved my old 1971 CB350, but I would never trade one for my new 2019 CB300R.

Great segment. Vehicle manufacturers more broadly have been using advances in technology to sell us more performance and features when they could have been retooling to produce more efficient and sustainable product lines for the same or lower costs -- and thereby slowing the destruction of the planet, too. It's a head-scratcher that American consumers seem to resist efficiency and thrift -- somehow we 'mericans want to spend more over the lifetime of a vehicle than we needed to!

My mom bought me a 73 Honda SL 350 for my 18th Birthday and I think it was less then $1500 new and had the same engine as the CB but with a quasi off road styling. They go for about $7000 down here in Florida if you can find one. It was way too heavy for serious dirt riding but it never left me stranded.

In common with a lot of people my age, I am an old fart. And of all the many things I have just about had enough of, young people riding motorbikes ain't one of 'em!🤣 In fact there is no better sight to me than seeing bikes on the road, The fact that the joy of motorcycling is alive and flourishing with the youth of today taking to motorcycling in seemingly ever growing numbers makes me very happy! Enjoy your bike riding years, they are most likely the happiest you will know. However... 2020 bike designs look like the engineers have borrowed aesthetics from the world of invertebrates, lots of black complex interlocking components, fuel tanks are multi faceted steel and plastic, whereas 1975 bike designs clearly show strong straight lines and streamlined curvy shapes. Not sorry it's gone, bloody glad I was there though. And no one bought that particular Honda twin where I come from in 1975. They all had CB400/4's. A far superior bike by several orders of magnitude to the 360. We loved 'em in Europe. Unfortunately it was a flop in North America, so they replaced it with the CB400 Dream/Hawk* Two less cylinders, but a six valve head, counter balance shafts, Comstar wheels , electronic ignition and similar performance to the old 400/4. The eighties! The pace of motorcycle innovation was blistering!! The industry is run by accountants now. At least todays bikes don't leak oil, rattle your coccyx to dust, blow fuses for fun just at the worst possible moment and have electrics that die on you in the merest light shower. But... that was the 60s. All those problems were mostly gone by 1975... as long as you bought a Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki or Bridgestone if you could find one (yup they used to make bikes before switching to tyres). *Depending on where you lived.

I got a cb 300 r brand new in 2019 it was JUNK and couldn't keep the chain adjusted and had a weird way of doing it and it was constantly in the shop.... My brother got one and used it as his daily driver at it blew up after only 10,000 miles.. they are trash with a honda badge

I love the video and presentation! I bought a new bike in 2000; a KTM 640. No fancy safety features, even for what was available back then. Manual brakes with no ABS, incandescent headlight, manual blinkers that don't shut themselves off, no steering dampers.. I'd bet the older bike has a much softer ride! This bike's seat is (was) like sitting on a brick. I changed the cushion. I put a lighter spring in the back. It's at least 'ridable' for a couple of hours, now.

Great video! I’ve never understood the allure of vintage bikes. Great for an occasional fun ride, sure, but not for an everyday bike. Newer bikes are faster, handle better, and are far safer. Easier to wrench on an older bike, and I know some people enjoy that, but not me. I’d rather be riding.

The CB 360 was a fun bike, worked on a bunch of them back in the early 90's. Pretty solid for being a budget bike, and fine for running around town. It's funny to see some still running around today, I don't see a lot of modern bikes aging as well.
